Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company realizes the importance of children care, arrangement of conditions for their growth and development. Work with growing up generation is carried by the company according to following directions: provision of terms for valuable physical growth and development, arrangement of term for study, artistic and cultural development of children. In 1999 “Children of Russia” charity fund was founded by initiative of Andrey Kozitsyn, General Director of UMMC, to implement childhood and youth support charity programs.

Care of schoolboys health in cities of UMMC enterprises location is the key feature of the company social program. Currently favorable conditions for sports are created for children in many cities: repair of schools gymnasiums, availability of swimming pools and sections on many kinds of sport, arrangement of competitions and sport events for children by the company.

Social policy of UMMC also includes such direction as child neglect prevention, participation in social rehabilitation of children-orphans and children without parental care. First of all it means joint work with municipal authorities on formation of enhanced social and cultural medium in cities where UMMC’s enterprises are operated. 

Part of these funds is directed to work of teenagers clubs, hobby groups, arrangement of children’s rest and sport events. More than 1500 children and teenagers are go in for sections of judo, swimming, football and also equestrian located in sport and health-improving center which is rather popular within the citizens. The most popular city sport is unarmed self-defense (350 people are in this sport). Alexandr Kozitsyn, Director of OAO “Uralelectromed”, is vice-president of all-Russian Unarmed Self-Defense Federation and Head of Unarmed Self-Defense Federation of Sverdlovsk region. Judo section for children with poor vision is available.
