A centrifugal casting machine and two induction melting furnaces, one ton of melt each, have been installed at the non-ferrous castings shop that is being reequipped by Sredneuralsky Copper Smelter (an enterprise of UMMC metallurgical division).
The shop is located on the premises of mechanical-repair department and its area is 400 m2. These days, brickwork of auxiliary rooms is underway here and construction of operators’ platforms has been initiated. Apart from the main equipment, the following has been purchased: 2 casting ladles of 2 tons each, a roller mixer and a non-destructive gauge for castings. A new 16-ton overhead crane is expected to be delivered and an aeration device is planned to be acquired for treatment of offgas from the induction melting furnaces.
Revamping of non-ferrous castings shop will make it possible to produce copper and bronze castings at Sredneuralsky Copper Smelter for industrial purposes of all UMMC enterprises. These are, for example, copper water-cooled elements for melting furnaces: water jackets of different types, launders sections as well as bushings, bearings segments and other products.
Sredneuralsky Copper Smelter will invest about 57 mln. rubles in reequipment of non-ferrous castings shop and 32 mln. of them - in procurement of new equipment. It is planned to complete all works including commissioning by the end of second quarter of this year.
