Region economy
Over 4 thousand industrial enterprises including 280 large and middle-scale companies are located in this region. Nowadays about 1.5% of total Russian industrial products are manufactured by the regional enterprises. Practically all industries are introduced in this region such as fuel, power industry, metallurgy, chemical and petrochemical industry, machine-building, light and mining industry. Over 80% of total industrial output is made by enterprises of fuei, petrochemical industries, metallurgical and machine-building sectors. Over 2500 deposits of 75 minerals are developed in this region (gas, oil, brown coal, copper and iron ores, nickel, rock salt, marble, asbestos, jasper, gold, silver, lead, sulfur, cadmium, selenium, tellurium, gallium, bismuth and others). Almost 6% of gas resources in Russia are recovered at Orenburg gas condensate deposit which is one of the largest in Europe.
